Le Globe Trotter

We had booked this restaurant for the evening of the F&ecirc;te Nationale. The highlight of the restaurant is the location and the lovely view over the harbour at St Servan and the Rance estuary. However from the minute we turned up and the staff saw we had children with us we felt unwelcome and from then on very awkward. Every other table received bread, appetisers and bottles of tap water. When we tried to ask for water and despite my bad French trying to get the message across that it was tap water we wanted like the other tables, we were brought a bottle of mineral water which we were then charged &euro;7 for at the end of the evening. The food was ok but very expensive for what it was. My main was a potted duck parmentier which while tasty enough was mostly potato with very little duck and only a simple salad on the side. My wife had a vegetable crumble, again tasty enough but in my opinion as with my dish not worth &euro;24. Our children were offered chicken or fish in a cream sauce with vegetables, again it was ok but we were charged &euro;12 for each. Overall a disappointing experience.
